New Jewish neighborhoods were also built during the Mandate, including Beit Hakerem, Mekor Hayim, Mekor Baruch, Rehavia, Talpiot, Kiryat Moshe, Na- halat Ahim, Kiryat Shmuel and Bayit VeGan. Each neighborhood had its own character. Beit Hakerem, for example, was established by a group of professionals and teachers. Bayit VeGan, on the other hand, was a par- tially religious community.
